Northeast Portland

Northeast Portland is a large stretch of the city that runs from downtown Portland all the way out to Gresham, bordered by the Columbia River to the north. Rich in character, Northeast Portland includes recognized neighborhoods like Alameda, Elliot, Irvington, Hollywood, Rose City, Laurelhurst, and Parkrose to the east. With the majority of Portland's residents living on the eastside of the Willamette, there still remains a great sense of pride. It is not unusual to find large, elegant, historic mansions along the well-kept streets of close in Northeast Portland. Those fortunate enough to live on a hill can find themselves with perhaps the best views of the city skyline to the west. Home of the Convention Center and The Rose Quarter (host to the Trailblazers and the Winter Hawks), burgeoning business districts to the east like Broadway and Hollywood are emerging and flourishing as hot spots for Portlanders to frequent.

Piedmont

The Piedmont neighborhood was laid out in 1895 as an upper middle class suburb. The area grew rapidly and dozens of fine homes were built and Peninsula Park was developed. Promotional material called the new neighborhood of Piedmont "The Emerald, Portland's evergreen suburb". Piedmont means "foot of the mountain".

Concordia

Similar to the Piedmont area, Concordia fell on bad times during the 1970's and 1980's. Once considered a suburb, Concordia's commercial center, Alberta Street, has been given a new beginning with investors reclaiming this thriving arterial. Extensive renovation has taken place in the last decade, claiming numerous improvement projects that has enhanced its livability. Home of Concordia University continues to play a significant role its character while changes like the conversion of the deteriorated Kennedy School into one of the infamous McMenamin's Brewpubs featuring a bed and breakfast and a movie house.

Eliot

This neighborhood is named after Thomas Lamb Eliot who came to Portland in 1867. The Eliot neighborhood was once part of the City of Albina and grew into a bustling industrial and railroad town.
