Neighborhood Information

The Portland Metropolitan areas are rich with character and diversity. With over 94 formally recognized neighborhoods, if you want charming bungalows with quaint tree-lined streets or trendy lofts in the Pearl District, rustic farmhouses on five acres or new construction in planned unit developments, we have it all. Let us walk you through a tour of our community we call home.


The Portland metropolitan area consists of six counties: Multnomah, Washington, Clackamas, Yamhill, and Columbia in Oregon, plus Clark County in Washington.


Multnomah County is the smallest of the six. It represents the largest population with more than half of the population residing in the City of Portland.


Washington County located directly to the west of Multnomah County, it is one of the fastest growing areas in Oregon. Considered Oregon's Silicon Valley, it's growth in high tech companies has lead to the increase in residential housing.


Clackamas County is adjacent to Multnomah's southern and eastern boundary. Rich in farm land and home to many of Oregon's natural landmarks, including Mt. Hood, featuring year-round skiing, Clackamas features diversity and its best. Recent growth east of I-205 has seen new subdivisions by the plenty while country folks still enjoy room to roam on parcels with one to 100 acres.


Yamhill County became world reknowned with it's explosion into the wine business. Perhaps considered one of the most agriculturally rich counties, land owners have converted their crops to grapes. Home to more than 40 wineries and 100 vineyards, Yamhill provides an escape like no other county.


Columbia County is to the north of Multnomah and runs along the Columbia River towards the Pacific Ocean. Consequently, Columbia County boasts both thriving agriculture and recreational industries.


Clark County is just across the Columbia River to the north in the State of Washington. Although in another state, Clark County has seen tremendous growth with people that live in Vancouver and work in Portland.
